Luke 1:78-79 "Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."
This painting hopes to capture the experience of having the Savior walk with you through the challenges of mortality, that while the whole path may not be lit before us, the Lord is able to guide us along the way.

There are many beautiful representations of Christ the Savior as our light, but the simple and poignant symbol of Him leading us down the darkened and narrow path of life is one that I have often drawn comfort from. To me, the verses of the beloved 1833 Hymn Lead Kindly Light capture perfectly the trials of life's journey, the comfort of His guidance, and the need for faith in every footstep along the way. The words of this hymn inspired me to create this painting. -Simon Dewey
