Provo City Center Temple - Blue Antique

"Every foundation stone that is laid for a Temple, and every Temple completed according to the order the Lord has revealed for his holy Priesthood, lessens the power of Satan on the earth, and increases the power of God and Godliness." —George Q. Cannon

Story Behind the Art

I love the history of this unique temple. It truly is an example of beauty rises from ashes. As I was circling around to capture the different angles of this beautiful temple, I had an interesting experience. It was the week of the Provo Freedom Festival and there was a carnival going on directly opposite the grounds. It was loud, crowded, and covered with busy people. I glanced to the temple side, I saw a beautiful latino family, anxiously awaiting the new bride and groom to make their exit. As I meandered down the sidewalk, directly between the two events, I looked from one to the other.

On the carnival side, I heard the music begin again, and a loud and profane pop song came over the speakers. Simultaneously, the newlyweds came walking out and I could hear the cheers of happiness and excitement come from the temple crowd. With joy, the family circled around the freshly sealed couple, embracing them in celebration and joy. I felt like I was in some sort of dichotomy. Two opposing sides and two opposing forces. Side by side I could hear both the worldly music and the celebrating cheers from the temple. I almost felt like I was being a presented with a choice. In that moment, I knew which side I wanted to be on. I felt the spirit testify to me of covenants and binding family ties. Even though in reality, I was simply walking down a sidewalk, I know my Heavenly Father blessed me with a teaching moment. Tears filled my eyes as I received direct light from Heaven, helping me to know the right path in front of my life.  - Mandy Jane Williams
