Five That Were Wise

Story Behind the Art:

This piece is a portrayal of the five wise virgins from the parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew chapter 25, in which five were wise and five were foolish. The five who were wise took “oil in their vessels with their lamps” (verse 4) while the foolish took “no oil with them.” (verse 3) It is an example to us to always keep our spiritual lamps trimmed and full, drop by drop, by good spiritual habits of daily scripture study; attending church; striving to be worthy of the Temple and attending as often as circumstances permit; seeking the Lord in prayer many times daily; always having Him in our thoughts and keeping Him at the center of our lives; seeking His will and inspiration as we charter our daily activities and church callings; and being open to inspiration regarding opportunities for service and acts of kindness. It is only through constant attention to these things that will we be familiar with the Savior’s voice and will. Only then will we be ready spiritually for the Second Coming of the Lord. - Rose Dall
