Story Behind the Art

This painting depicts the visit of Hyrum and Joseph Smith to Hyrum’s farm in Nauvoo on September 20, 1843. The farm was located one and a half miles east of the Nauvoo Temple site. There, Hyrum’s children explored and played and helped with the farm tasks. On  this day  Hyrum was pleased to see that  heavy rain they received  week before, had revived  the scrubby vegetables, corn, and other crops that had not received moisture since the !st of June. We are reminded how much they depended on blessings from Heaven to maintain their life sustenance and their livings.
