For Unto Us a Child Is Born

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ~ Isaiah 9:6

The idea behind this picture was to show the perspective of Heavenly Father looking down at His Son, knowing the life and ministry, and ultimately the sacrifice that He had sent His son to do. As a sad but relevant part of story behind this picture, my wife and I were looking for a baby to use as a model for the picture when the phone rang. It was a call to let us know that the friend of my oldest daughter, who was just fourteen, had just delivered her baby and named him Joshua. I thought that Mary could have been quite young and so I asked, delicately, if we might use this girl’s new son as the model. He was just six days old when I took the reference shot. ~Simon Dewey
