Abide with Me

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and
lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is
easy, and my burden is light. ~ Matthew 11:28-30

In this painting I wanted to depict the Savior with open arms,
welcoming and inviting us to come unto Him, the Prince of Peace. My
intention was to create an expression of His softness, forgiveness, and
understanding; for He knows us and seeks after us that we may find
rest and peace in Him. I can imagine that in such an instance all other
details and personal insecurities will fade away - and because of this I
intentionally painted Him in white with a soft white background with
no other details to distract us from Him. If we will follow Him and learn
of Him we will truly find ourselves in His rest.
