Hallowed Be Thy Name

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. ~ Matthew 6:9-13

I wanted to present Christ, before his ministry began, preparing himself through study and prayer. I painted a younger Christ to show that he had not yet begun his official ministry. Really, it is a reminder to me to do those same things – “ere you left your room this morning, did you think to pray.” In the picture the morning light is shining though a window onto Christ’s robe and face. I believe that there would have been a time that before he went to the carpenter’s shop, he would have taken time to ponder the words of His Father and pray to Him.
